Mark Leslie lives in Hamilton, Ontario and has been writing since he first discovered his mother’s Underwood typewriter in the spare bedroom closet of the family home at the age of thirteen.

His first published short story “The Progressive Sidetrack” (1992) was a Young Adult humor story, and his first published horror story “Phantom Mitch” (1993) received Honorable Mention in Ellen Datlow’s The Year’s Best Fantasy &Horror.

Interview with Matt Mayr

Matt Mayr grew up in a small mining community north of Lake Superior, where he learned to hunt and fish from a very young age. He holds an Honours English Degree from York University, and attended the Humber School for Writers mentorship program twice. He has traveled extensively in India, Nepal, and South America, trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp, and paddling deep into the Amazon Basin. He lives in Toronto with his wife and daughter, where he is working on his next novel.

Interview with Barry Broad and Drew Mendelson

Barry BroadBarry Broad was born in Los Angeles in 1957. He is a lawyer by training and has spent his professional career as a lobbyist, representing a variety of union clients from the Screen Actors Guild and the Teamsters to the Longshoremen and Jockeys’ Guild. His work has brought him in contact with people from all walks of life and he has used those people and their stories to dive deep into the lives of the characters that animate his fiction. He earned his law degree from the University of California, Davis and attended King’s College, Cambridge University, in England and U.C. Davis as an undergraduate. He is the author of two espionage thrillers, Eve of Destruction and its sequel, Requiem for the Damned[

Drew MendelsonDrew Mendelson is a novelist and short story writer born in 1945 in Kansas City. He has worked as a labor journalist and photographer and as a political speech and op-ed writer for California’s governor, state senators and state treasurers. Drew is a Vietnam War combat veteran. He and his wife, Susan, live in Sacramento, California. He holds a master’s degree in creative writing and is a longtime member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. His other longer published works include two science fiction novels, Pilgrimage and Marin 2120 CE, and a Vietnam War novel, Song Ba To.

Editors J.R. Campbell and Shannon Allen have brought together a new collection of Arthurian tales in By the Light of Camelot.

N. K. Blazevic, Inspired by Nature

N. K. Blazevic was born in Montreal and currently lives in Saint-Andre-D’Argenteuil, Quebec, where she has become a passionate beekeeper. She studied art for a year in college but she could not nurture her talent or interest there. She was much more interested in being outdoors. She fled to the countryside of the Quebec Laurentians where she apprenticed for a stone mason and cultivated her love of art and animals. She considers herself a student of life with a keen interest in the natural world. She hopes her book Grimenna can not only entertain and enchant readers, but can help to promote a green renaissance.

Andrew J. Peters is an award-winning author, an educator and an activist. His novel The City of Seven Gods won the 2017 Silver Falchion award for Best Horror/Fantasy and was a finalist for 2016 Sci Fi/Fantasy Book of the Year at the Foreword INDIES. His Werecat series was a 2016 Readers’ Choice finalist at The Romance Reviews. He has written two books for young adults (The Seventh Pleaide and Banished Sons of Poseidon), and he is the author of the adult novel Poseidon and Cleito.

Understanding the Sic Transit Terra Universe

Born and raised in Toronto, Arlene F. Marks began writing stories at the age of 6 and can’t seem to stop.  Although she’s been published in multiple genres, her first love has always been speculative fiction.  Her work has appeared in H.P. Lovecraft’s Magazine of Horror, Onder Magazine, and Daily Science Fiction.  Her science fantasy novel, The Accidental God, was nominated for the 2015 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour.  Retired from the high school classroom, Arlene lives with her husband on Nottawasaga Bay but spends an inordinate amount of time in the Sic Transit Terra universe that she has created.

The Dramatic Worlds of Brittni Brinn

Brittni Brinn was born Brittni Ann Carey in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She studied English and Drama at Concordia University College of Alberta (now Concordia University of Edmonton) before moving to Windsor, Ontario for graduate studies. She received her M.A. of Creative Writing in 2015. She co-hosted Hardcover: A Literary Podcast for two years and has written three plays for Paper-Knife Theatre. Besides books, her interests include coffee, songwriting, and cyborgs.
